Aptitude Audio is founded on the principle of simplicity. We believe that simple tools provide the audio engineer with a deeper connection to their music, as they are minimally invasive to the engineer’s workflow.
We have created four plug-ins, Apti-Q, Simply-Q, VoxComp, and Little Speaker, with this principle in mind. Apti-Q focuses on perceptual controls that make EQ easier by freeing the engineer to focus on tone rather than frequency explicitly. Simply-Q features a simple version of traditional EQ controls, with flexible gain and frequency, and allows the engineer to shape tone with minimal distraction from the UI or the processor itself. VoxComp provides minimalist controls to alter a signal’s dynamic range, and Little Speaker filters and distorts audio based on the Fletcher-Munson curves, emulating the sound of a small speaker.
Our tools are designed to be easy-to-use, clear, and fun. We hope you enjoy using them.
Now based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Aptitude Audio started in Murfreesboro, TN, at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) as Andy Bainton’s graduate final project for his Master of Fine Arts in Recording Arts and Technologies.
